Everyone knows the feeling of walking into a dark room and frantically searching for the light switch. Or of tasting a bite of food and wishing it had just a little bit more flavor. Our cravings for salt and for light symbolize our innate knowledge that there are things we can add to bland and darkened places of life to transform it for the better.
Shortly after Jesus offers his famous sermon on the mount, he continues by calling his followers to be both the salt and the light of the world. This was a description and a command to be the transformation we all crave for the world. In this sermon series, we will explore the many layers of meaning and invitation that come with these powerful titles Jesus has given his followers. We will answer the question, “If we are to be the transforming salt and light of the world, how, then, shall we live?”
